What you need:

  • For the burgers: 4 beef patties (300g, 2 per burger)
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 2 burger buns
  • 2 thick tomato slices
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • ½ onion, caramelized with ½ tsp sugar
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 tsp mustard (for toasting)
  • For the sauce: 100g mayo
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp pickle juice
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 2 pickles, finely chopped
  • ½ onion, caramelized with ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt & water
  • Salt & pepper

Preparation

Caramelize the diced ½ onion with sugar, salt & water. Mix with mayo, ketchup, pickle juice, mustard & chopped pickles for the sauce.

Slice & caramelize the large onion for burgers & fries. Fry the potatoes until crispy, top with cheese, bake at 200°C until melted, then add sauce & onions.

Spread mustard on one side of the patties, cook mustard-side down, season, flip & add cheese.

Toast buns with butter. Assemble: spread sauce on the bun, add lettuce, tomato, patties, caramelized onions & top bun. Serve with fries & enjoy!
