Pro Tips for Perfect Texas Toast
Roll tightly – this creates a cleaner shape and soft layers inside.
Seal the edges – prevents the rolls from opening during baking.
Let the dough rise properly – this ensures fluffy bread.
Use warm milk, not hot – hot milk will kill the yeast.

Ingredient Notes
Milk – keeps the bread soft and tender.
Butter – adds richness and improves the fluffy texture.
Egg – helps with structure and softness.
Sugar – slightly sweetens the bread and supports yeast activity.
Yeast – gives the bread its light and airy rise.
Sesame Seeds – add flavor and a slight crunch on top.

Ingredients (Makes 8 Texas Toast Pieces)
• 410 g all-purpose flour
• 1 large egg
• 150 ml warm milk
• 2 tbsp milk (for brushing)
• 25 g sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 50 g butter, softened
• 6 g dry yeast
For the Top
• Egg + milk mixture (for brushing)
• Sesame seeds

Instructions
Make the Dough
In a bowl or stand mixer, combine flour, warm milk, sugar, yeast, salt, and egg. Knead until a rough dough forms, then add the softened butter. Continue kneading for about 8–10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Cover and let the dough rest for about 1 hour, or until slightly risen.
Shape the Bread
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape them into balls. Roll each ball out into a small rectangle.Roll the dough up tightly into a log shape and seal the ends so it holds the rectangular Texas toast shape.Make sure the smooth side of the dough faces upward, as this will become the top of the bread.

Second Rise
Place the shaped dough pieces into a 20×20 cm baking pan. Let them rest for about 30 minutes so they rise again.

Bake
Brush the tops with a mixture of egg and milk, then sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C for about 28–30 minutes, until golden brown. Take it out with some KITCHENAID Soft Silicone Oven Mitts and let cool slightly before slicing.
